Patriots Match Longest Winning Streak Since Brady Era with Win Against Jets
Rookie Henderson has scored five TDs this season
The New England Patriots equaled their longest winning run from the Tom Brady era as they defeated AFC East rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in the 2019 season
Signal-caller Maye threw for 281 yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The win bolsters the New England's advantage at the top of the division as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the New York bottom after dropping to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had scored first at Foxborough with quarterback Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to finish the Jets' first possession
But the home team responded in the second period as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard TDs before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the endzone halfway into the third period to extend the lead to 21-7
"That was a crucial moment for him stepping up, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He wants to be outstanding."
Fields found John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to close the gap for the visitors but Borregales kicked a two kicks in the fourth quarter as the Patriots sealed the triumph
